FRITZ!Box 7270 V3 modification

 

Modification of an AVM FRITZ!Box 7270 V3 - changing the standard "normal size" Wifi-Antennas to much more effictive "larger" Antennas. The small DECT antenna has remained in the middle. Unfortunately, I now doesn't know exactly what antennas were installed (+9 or +12 dBi?).

 

Repair of Kodak DX 4530

 

Unfortunately, no photos were taken during the repair. I found this camera in an older moving box and it no longer turned on. I checked that there were no more batteries inserted and then I started to work on the device. First I cleaned it gently with a cloth and then cleaned the contacts of the battery compartment. (Unfortunately, even with freshly charged batteries, there was still no sign of life.) So I opened the unit and after disassembling it as cleanly as possible, I re-soldered two spots and reassembled it. This time luck was on my side: Working camera. Perfectly! :)

 

Wiring

 

At my parents home, at my brothers house and at my house, cables were laid by me or rearranged and repurposed for various purposes. Here you can see an example of a network socket and a patch panel at my brother's home. Laid network box - Here 2 x 100 MBit/s over a CAT7 SFTP cable. So instead of connecting the 8 wires for Gigabit, here 2x4 for 100 Mbit were connected. More cables may be added to the patchpanel as the number of rooms in the house increases.

 

DIY cable for connecting phone (old way Y-cable / no VoIP)

 

Today, fortunately, hardly necessary, because the VoIP access data are often provided by the provider or there was temporarily no more router compulsion ... Nevertheless: Have you ever connected a FRITZ!Box - for example only for telephony - behind another dial-up device (for example a cable modem)? Was the included Y-cable too short for you? Then try to build your own cable for telephony... Here you can see the naive representation of an example cabling. The FRITZ!Box hangs behind a cable modem and is configured to share and distribute the cable internet. Further the FRITZ!Box is used to connect several phones to the connection line of the cable modem. Thus, on a purchased telephone cable, the end with the RJ11 plug must be removed and an RJ45 plug must be crimped instead. Please note that TAE 1 (a-wire) -here brown- in the RJ45 plug has to be crimped to position 3 and TAE 2 (b-wire) -here green- in the RJ45 plug has to be crimped to position 6. An individual Y-connection cable is ready.

 

Extending a FRITZ!Box FON-Socket via the house wiring

 

If you have for example a FRITZ!Box or another router in room "A" and a free telephone socket in room "B", then you simply connect the telephone socket (TAE) to the intended connection of the modem (with FRITZ!Box's for example FON1/FON2). Generally you should take care that your router/modem is connected to the first TAE or even as close as possible to the house connection - because every further meter can lead to interferences - and nothing else should be connected (also no empty TAE socket - see picture) - In older buildings often a second or even a complete ISDN system is connected to the first TAE). So take a cable with two wires - which may even be already connected - and connect it to the empty socket (see picture TAE No. 2) and the other two ends to a TAE plug for the connection to the router (FON1/FON2).
